CAPON VALLEY 50K RUN
TWELFTH ANNUAL CAPON VALLEY 50K RUN
MAY 8, 2010
Run
for a cause. We can’t do it without you. Our past runs have raised
over $66,000.00 for our community with funds going to the Capon Springs
Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the Capon Valley Ruritan, and Edgebrook.org---a
grief counseling workshop. With our run it doesn’t
only mean the monies raised. All left over tee shirts are
distributed among the community’s children and
adults. The perishable foods are delivered to a soup kitchen, the canned sodas
and bottled water are given to the fire department to use for their next fund
raiser and our homemade barbecued chicken is frozen and given to the Salvation
Army to be used for a dinner for homeless children. To
all past runners, we depend on you to spread the word--- please let your run
clubs know about our run. If you haven't run our race, please take the time to
see what we do to make this race a great run (click
here)!
We have a wonderful course of
woodland trails filled with natural beauty. You will enjoy our breathtaking
scenery and quiet country atmosphere. The course is hilly, and the footing is
generally excellent – very runnable.
There
are a number of stream crossings, and just a few rocky areas.
The trail contains only about
1 mile of pavement each way – to get from the Ruritan (base camp) to the
trailhead, and from the trailhead back to the Ruritan. It contains about 1/3
of a mile of pavement during the race, just before stop 3.
Less than 2 miles of the
course is run on gravel roads.
Maps are available on
