CAPON VALLEY 50K RUN     MAY 10, 2008

2007 SPONSORS

2008 will mark the TENTH anniversary of the Annual Capon Valley Run.  When Lynn Golemon started the run ten years ago, no one envisioned the success it would be, but the residents of the Capon Valley pitched in to mark the course, help with registration, man the aid stations, and prepare our noteworthy after-race barbecue chicken dinner.

The first year we had only 41 runners.  Now, we have had to limit our registration to 200.  Many of our runners keep coming back to enjoy the beauty of our course and the friendliness of the people who live here.  Over the years, we have raised almost $60,000 for the local charities we support, including the Capon Springs Fire and Rescue, the Capon Valley Ruritan Club (who let us use their facility and  who cook those great meals), and Edgebrook.   THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE CAPON VALLEY 50K THE SUCCESS IT IS!

As in prior years, our course is situated on wonderful woodland trails filled with natural beauty.  You will certainly enjoy our breathtaking scenery and quiet country atmosphere.  The course is hilly, and the footing is generally excellent – very runnable.  There are a number of stream crossings, and just a few rocky areas.  (more...)  Maps will be available on race day, and the entire trail will be clearly marked.  Runner completion time limit is 8 hours.

A Participation Award will be provided to each runner, along with prizes for the first man/first woman and top ten runners.   We’ll have 2 Trips for 2 to Las Vegas –awarded in a raffle drawing.   Roundtrip airfare on Southwest Airlines from anywhere Southwest’s fly’s to Las Vegas.  Two nights hotel accommodations at the Las Vegas Hilton or similar.  Hotel taxes and service fees are included.  The top twenty finishers’ names will be submitted in the raffle drawing.  Runners MUST be 18 on race day.  After the race, runners will receive a free homemade barbecued chicken or vegetarian dinner;  additional dinners  may be purchased for $8 each.  We will also have BREAKFASTS for purchase Saturday morning at the Ruritan Club.

For safety reasons,  NO VEHICLES ARE PERMITTED ON THE COURSE or at aid stations; however, transportation will be available for spectators, volunteers and for any runners unable to continue.  We will carry marked bags to the aid stations as requested.
